Professor Wankat Wins 2016 AIChE Warren K. Lewis Award

Dr. Phillip C. Wankat was selected as the recipient of the AIChE 2016 Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education.

Dr. Phillip C. Wankat, the Clifton L. Lovell Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of Undergraduate Degree Programs in the School of Engineering Education, is the winner of the 2016 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education.

The award recognizes Dr. Wankat's distinguished and continuing contributions to chemical engineering education. He has been active in developing new teaching methods, and was a pioneer in teaching graduate students how to teach. He is the co-author of the book "Teaching Engineering," and author of "The Effective, Efficient Professor: Teaching, Scholarship and Service."

The award will be presented at the Honors Ceremony of the AIChE Annual Meeting on November 13. It  is sponsored by ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company and consists of a plaque, $5,000 and a $500 travel allowance.
