Assistant Professor Raj Gounder was selected as one of only 40 recipients for the 2016 Young Scientist Prize from International Association of Catalysis Societies (IACS).

This international prize is awarded every four years to a select group of scientists at the International Congress on Catalysis (ICC). To qualify, authors must be 35 or under and presenting at the annual ICC meeting, which will take place in Beijing, China, July 2016.

Dr. Gounder will discuss his group's latest research in the area of renewable energy production, specifically on the development of solid catalysts that operate in liquid water and that convert biomass-derived compounds to intermediates that can be used to produce chemicals and fuels.
