Bruce E. Dale (PhD ‘79), Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Michigan State University was named Distinguished Professor.

Dr. Bruce Dale received his PhD degree from Purdue in 1979, after completing his BS and MS degrees at the University of Arizona.  Dr. Dale’s first academic position was at Colorado State University, where he rose to the rank of Professor in 1988. Later that year, he joined Texas A&M University as Professor of Chemical Engineering and Agricultural Engineering.  He is currently Professor of Chemical Engineering and former Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Wiley journal Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Mascoma, a renewable fuels company.

 Dr. Dale occupies a leadership role in the DOE Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center and is widely recognized as a leading advocate for consistent, equitable comparison of biofuels and petroleum fuels.  This role as a public advocate has brought him to testify before Congress and to appear in high level debates about biofuels in both print and electronic media.
