Professor Neal Houze has been selected as one of the 10 faculty members in the US to receive the 2009-10 ConocoPhillips Faculty Award.

Professor Venkat Venkatasubramanian's work on mathematics of statistical thermodynamics and information theory has led him to find a new application described in his paper "What is Fair Pay for Executives? An Information Theoretic Analysis of Wage Distributions," published in Entropy in November 2009. His work and this paper have been highlighted in a recent Journal & Courier article.

Elizabeth Shewmaker, a Senior in Chemical Engineering, was highlighted as part of the "Five Students Who Give Back" Series. She volunteers with College Mentors for Kids at Purdue.

Rakesh Agrawal, Winthrop E. Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) in 2009.

On October 22, 2009, the School of Chemical Engineering will honor Dr. Mary Ellen Weber (BSChE '84) and Dr. Henry Sampson (BSChE '56) with the Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award.
