In December 2007, Rakesh Agrawal, Winthrop E Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, was awarded Chemical Weekly's Padmashri Dr. G. P. Kane CHEMCON Distinguished Speaker Award, IIChE. The award was conferred by the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers to recognize leadership and contributions in the field of chemical engineering.

Dr. Agrawal has also been selected to receive the 2008 AIChE Fuels and Petrochemicals Division Award. This award is made in recognition of his distinguished career at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in the field of Separations of interest to the Fuels and Petrochemicals Industry, as well as his more recent contributions related to meeting our future energy challenges.
