Research Interests

Dr. Gore's research is in the area of combustion and radiation heat transfer with applications to pollutant reduction, efficiency enhancements, fire safety, and improved fundamental understanding. He has received over $10M in research funding and is currently serving as the PI for grants over $1M in gas turbine combustion, hydrogen storage, synthetic fuels and radiation heat transfer applications. He is applying infrared radiation sensing to a range of problems including Bio Medical Engineering and Food Science in collaboration with a group of scientists. He has authored or coauthored over 110 archival papers, four book chapters, 175 conference papers, and 3 US patents. Jay has developed/revised two graduate courses in Combustion at Purdue University and one graduate and two undergraduate courses in heat transfer and thermodynamics at the University of Maryland.
