The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) elects associate fellows in recognition of important engineering or scientific work, or other “outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.” Only one other university, Texas A&M, has four fellows in the 2023 class. The organizations with the most entries are NASA (13); Air Force Research Laboratories (5); and Boeing, Texas A&M and Purdue (4).

Associate fellows in AIAA are senior members in good standing, with at least 12 years of professional experience. The Institute is hosting a Class of 2023 Associate Fellows Meet and Greet on January 24th during their 2023 AIAA SciTech Forum.

“The AIAA Associate Fellows personify the innovation that drives our industry forward,” said Dan Dumbacher, AIAA executive director, who is also an adjunct professor for Purdue AAE. “The members of the Class of 2023 Associate Fellows embody the ingenuity and commitment that are crucial for developing solutions to the complex questions raised across the aerospace community.”
