Mr. Hayhurst began his career with Boeing as a customer support engineer, drafting service bulletins for the Boeing 747 during its initial certification process. He received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Washington in 1971. Since then he has held several positions at Boeing including marketing manager for the Boeing 747 and 757, and regional director of domestic sales. He was named to his present position in 1987. As vice president for marketing, Mr. Hayhurst is responsible for all of Boeing's commercial airplane marketing efforts including product strategy, sales support, market research, public relations, and advertising. He leads a diverse group of engineers, economists, mathematicians, and others who form one of the largest market analysis groups in the field.
