Dr. Daugherty joined AVCO as a principal research scientist and has made outstanding theoretical and experimental research and development contributions in many areas, such as plasma physics, high-voltage electron devices, gas discharge physics, lasers, and laser kinetics. His work with laser projects, like "Big Bang" and "Humdinger," has greatly increased the state-of-the-art in carbon dioxide high-energy laser systems. In his current position at AVCO-Everett, he directs all laser research activities sponsored by governmental agencies. Dr. Daugherty has shown creative leadership in the varied applications of high-energy lasers and physical gas dynamics.
