Purdue University recognized Carol Armstrong on Friday, November 21, 2014 for the gift of papers valued at more than $3.4 million from her late husband, Neil A. Armstrong (BSAE'55, DEA'67, HDR'70, OAE'99), a 1955 School of Aeronautics and Astronautics graduate and the first person to step on the moon.

Purdue University's College of Engineering Minority Engineering Program (MEP) hosted 250 ninth-grade students from ITW David Speer Academy in Chicago, IL on Friday, November 21, 2104. School of Aeronautics and Astronautics professors Dr. Mike Sangid (Structures & Materials) and Dr. Sally Bane (Aerodynamics), Managing Director of Maurice J. Zucrow Lab Scott Meyer, and School of AAE graduate students shared their expertise with the Academy students.

Congratulations to School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Professor Greg Blaisdell, winner of the prestigious 2014 W.A. Gustafson Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Purdue University School of Aeronautics and Astronautics team members were awarded 1st prize for their poster entitled, "Marching Towards Troy: Exploration of the Jupiter Trojan Asteroids" in the Outstanding Student Poster Presentation at the 11th International Planetary Probe Workshop (IPPW11) held at Caltech, Pasadena, CA, June 16-20, 2014.

Michelle Munk, an aerospace engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center, will speak at Purdue on Nov. 20, 2014 about her career. The talk, "From the Beach to Mars: One Engineer's Journey," will be at 5:30 p.m. in Armstrong Hall, Room B061. It is sponsored by the Women in Engineering Program and the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and is free and open to the public.

School of Aeronautics and Astronautics graduate student Max Fagin has been featured in a recent Popular Science article examining the volunteers for a one-way trip to Mars.

Col. Charles C. "Charlie" Bock, Jr., USAF (BSAE'49), and Mrs. Joyce Bock recently returned to the Purdue University campus to visit with friends in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

The Composites Design and Manufacturing HUB (cdmHUB) was recognized at the JEC AMERICAS Conference in Boston. The Composites Design and Manufacturing HUB (cdmHUB) is a cloud-based cooperative platform that hosts composites manufacturing simulation tools that can be accessed from the Internet through a Web browser. It received the JEC Innovation Award for academic achievement during the conference.

The Purdue Chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) sponsored a competition for School of Aeronautics and Astronautics undergraduate students to attend the Orion EFT-1 launch in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics is pleased to honor nine graduates of AAE with the designation "Outstanding Aerospace Engineer." The awards banquet will take place on Friday, November 7, 2014. Congratulations to our 2014 Outstanding Aerospace Engineers.
