Udbhau Bhattiprolu won Best Presentation Award at 2013 International Conference on Recent Advances in Structural Dynamics
|Event Date:||July 12, 2013|
Udbhau Bhattiprolu received the best presentation award at the 2013 International Conference on Recent Advances in Structural Dynamics, in Pisa, Italy. Udbhau is a Ph. D. student working with Prof. Anil Bajaj and Prof. Patricia Davies at the Ray. W. Herrick Labs in School of Mechanical Engineering. His presentation was on their paper entitled "Efficient predictions of the steady-state response of a beam interacting with viscoelastic materials". Nonlinear and viscoelastic behaviour is exhibited by materials such as flexible polyurethane foam used for cushioning in the furniture and automotive industries, building soils and biological materials such as muscle tissue, skin etc. To design systems that incorporate these materials as support structures, it is necessary to be able to understand and predict the static and dynamic behaviour of these systems. The focus of the presented work was on developing a method to obtain the response of a beam interacting with viscoelastic materials using efficient numerical techniques, and there by understand the response over a wider range of parameters.
