Timeline to Apply

In the year preceding fall admission/enrollment into the Ph.D. in Engineering Education program, you are encouraged to follow the following timeline of activities and deadlines:

August/September

September/October

  • Attend the ENE PhD Graduate Programs Open House
  • Apply for the program through the Purdue Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) and pay the application fee
  • Request electronic transcripts be sent to the OGSPS: 1) directly from the institution you attended to gradadm@purdue.edu or 2) to Graduate Admissions through SCRIP-SAFE (applicants whose transcripts are not in English must submit original-language transcripts and certified official English translations of those transcripts)
  • Submit your Statement of Purpose, Research Statement, CV, and Teaching Statement (see the Application Glossary for ENE guidance) through the OGSPS

November

  • Ensure all components (transcripts, reference letters, exam scores) of your application are completed by the November 15 deadline to be considered for all funding opportunities

December

  • Purdue will continue to accept missing application materials through January 1 and, upon receiving your complete application package, you will be considered for whatever funding remains

February through April

  • Check the progress of your application through the OGSPS portal
  • Compare competitive offers by taking time to evaluate not only the gross monthly stipends but also the cost of living in other geographic areas
  • Visit Purdue University's main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana

May through July

  • Accepted students will receive orientation materials over the summer. Visit the community (Home of Purdue, West Lafayette) and make arrangements to live here
  • To help us project class enrollment and more efficiently allocate instructional resources, we ask that all admitted students confirm they will enroll for the fall term by July 1

August

  • Two weeks before the fall term begins in August, be ready with a place to live, etc.
  • Plan to arrive on campus before the Monday of orientation week. Orientation activities will be scheduled throughout that week. In addition to the orientation sessions hosted by OGSPS on topics such as TA training, harassment, safety, diversity, academic integrity, and other events on campus (e.g., student organization callouts), ENE will hold its own orientation session, and international students will have an additional orientation
