		Dear ECE alumni and friends, As announced by our Dean, I will have the honor to serve our School as its new head effective May 1. Since joining our ECE family in 2003, I have had many opportunities to observe what it means to be an ECE Boilermaker: outstanding quality, strong work ethic, optimism and amazing energy are just some of the attributes that truly inspire us! Our School will remain committed to its mission and true to its values. We will also ensure that we empower everyone to move upward. Acid reflux could cause death during epileptic seizures, study finds A new study suggests that acid reflux plays a role in sudden unexplained death during an epileptic seizure. The study was led by Pedro Irazoqui, professor and interim head of ECE.
Ulcers from diabetes? New shoe insole could provide healing on-the-go A new shoe insole technology could help diabetic ulcers heal better while walking. ECE Prof. Babak Ziaie and postdoctoral researcher Hongjie Jiang are involved in the research, which used lasers to shape silicone-based rubber into insoles, and then create reservoirs that release oxygen only at the part of the foot where the ulcer is located.			Autonomous Intelligence, Here We Come The Center for Brain-Inspired Computing (C-BRIC), a five-year project supported by $31 million in funding from the Semiconductor Research Corporation’s JUMP program. The multi-faceted research endeavor is being led by ECE Prof. Kaushik Roy and will include over 85 graduate students and researchers at Purdue and nine other universities.
Purdue to launch engineering master’s program focused on innovative technologies Purdue University's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is launching a new one-year Professional Master's Program with a concentration in innovative technologies. The aim of the program is to develop leaders in technology innovation; the focus is on creating innovative products and solutions enabled by new technologies.
