EJ received his undergraduate degree from Purdue West Lafayette in 2015 for Electrical Engineering. His focus was in power electronics, embedded systems, and electric vehicles. Professional experience includes an internship at Allison Transmission working on their hybrid bus powertrain controls, and also an internship at Tesla Motors in Palo Alto, CA, working on the powertrain design, modeling, and controls team. After college, EJ was recruited by billionaire Mark Cuban to lead the engineering of his new 2-wheeled hoverboard startup in Dallas, TX, successfully building the product and launching it through Kickstarter. He is learning to own and operate a set of 12 auto shops across the state as the VP of Business for a family-owned Jiffy Lube franchise.
While at Purdue, EJ was involved in leading various student organizations including Old Masters, Purdue Foundation Student Board, Boiler Gold Rush, and Electric Vehicle Club. His other extracurriculars included Purdue Dance Marathon, Purdue Sailing Team, ECE Ambassador, and Delta Chi fraternity. EJ was a campus tour guide for Purdue as well as a TA for EV and embedded systems classes.
