Fifteen companies and over 300 students attended the second-annual Purdue IE Spring Career Fair on January 29. The IE-only event took place the night before the Purdue Engineering Student Council EXPO Career Fair.

The joint Career Fair was organized by students from the undergraduate group Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) and the graduate group Industrial Engineering Graduate Student Organization (IEGSO), assisted by Dave Kotterman, IE industry relations director.

Kotterman commended the IISE and IEGSO student leadership for organizing this growing event. "This spring IE Career Fair was the largest to date in terms of company participation and IE student attendance," he said. "It was great to catch up with our alums and to have them return as recruiters. This speaks to the strength of our IISE and IEGSO working together to host a first-rate event for our school. They did an outstanding job!"

"When we looked at the company list we thought this was a small event - but we were blown away by the amount of great talent that we saw," said a recruiter from Delta Airlines.

Representatives from Apple, Bastian Solutions, Belden, Caterpillar, ConAgra Brands, Delta Airlines, Faurecia, Halliburton, Hormel Foods, IU Health, Medline, PepsiCo, Trane, UPS, and US Cold Storage attended. The student groups also organized a photo booth where students could have professional headshots taken. The fair extended from Grissom Hall's Peter Wang Student Excellence Center throughout the entire first floor of the building.

"The success of the IE career fair is a testament to the quality and value of the Purdue IE degree, and it highlights the character of IISE and GSO students, who work tirelessly to continue improving this special event," said Alex Kortepeter, IISE president. "It is humbling to be a part of a community at Purdue that is so driven and supportive of each others' professional aspirations."

Burk Evans, IISE director of professional development, agreed. “Thanks to the volunteers and the IE staff, the night went more smoothly than it ever has before and the recruiters were very pleased with the talent Purdue IE provided," he said.
