ECN has provided full backups of the entire Engineering Computer Network for years. Now, the ability to provide tape backups of user data files has been enhanced by the installation of a new tape library system. The base model of the ADIC Scalar 10K is now in service in the ECN central machine room. The initial configuration consists of 700 tape slots and two LTO-2 tape drives. Each LTO tape cartridge has an uncompressed storage capacity up to 200Gbytes.

In addition to the new tape libraries, ECN will continue to use the StorageTek 9710 robotic tape library that has provided backup storage in the past. For more information about ECN's backup services, visit the Backups section of the ECN Services site.
