Sr. Technical Fellow
RTX BBN Technologies
MSECE, 2010 | ECE PhD, 2015

Andrew C. Marcum received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology in 2006, the M.S. degree in engineering with focus in systems engineering and electrical engineering from Purdue University in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with focus in communications and signal processing from Purdue University in 2015. Currently, Dr. Marcum is a Sr. Technical Fellow at RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) in Arlington, VA. At BBN, Dr. Marcum serves as the lead principal investigator and technical director for BBN’s Electronic Warfare (EW) line of business (LoB); the EW LoB specializes in the development, demonstration, and transition of novel signal processing technologies that solve critical U.S. defense challenges and consists of more than 50 highly skilled research scientists and engineers. In this role, Dr. Marcum has won and led numerous research and development programs sponsored by DARPA, ONR, AFRL, Army C5ISR, the Intelligence Community, and numerous others with a combined value in excess of $150M. In 2024, Dr. Marcum was recognized by Purdue’s Elmore School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) with an Outstanding Alumni and Faculty award. From 2006 to 2016, Andrew served as a Systems Engineer at Raytheon Company in Fort Wayne, IN while attending graduate school at Purdue. To date, Dr. Marcum’s research interests include the development of signal processing techniques to create novel applications of sparse arrays, special communications systems, passive surveillance systems, intelligent control processes, and electronic attack at the intersection of cyber and traditional electronic warfare.
