On February 22, 2009, the members of the Purdue Society of Women Engineers (PSWE) gathered at the Purdue Memorial Union to celebrate the achievements of women studying engineering.

On February 21, 2009, the members of the National Society of Black Engineers gathered at the Purdue Memorial Union to celebrate the achievements of minority students in engineering, math, science, and technology.

Hemmer, BS 1980, was honored by the College of Engineering with its 2009 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award.

The School of Chemical Engineering is delighted to announce that Dr. Doraiswami Ramkrishna, Harry Creighton Peffer Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering. He is being honored "For creation of new model concepts and solutions that improved the engineering of biological and particulate processes."

The School of Chemical Engineering is delighted to announce that Dr. Kristi Anseth, Purdue ChE alumna (BS ChE ’92), has been elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering. She is being honored “For pioneering the rational design of biomaterials for tissue engineering, drug delivery, and biosensing applications.”
