Jeffrey L. Hemmer Receives the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award

Hemmer, BS 1980, was honored by the College of Engineering with its 2009 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award.

On February 19, 2009, Jeff Hemmer was honored by the College of Engineering with its 2009 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award.

Mr. Hemmer earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Purdue in 1980. Currently, he is Senior VP, Solution Implementation, The Sinclair Group. Before that, he was a Vice President, Pipelines for LyondellBasell Industries which includes the former Lyondell Chemical Company, Basell, Millennium Chemicals and Equistar Chemicals, LP.  Jeff joined Millennium after 16 years with Exxon Chemical where he served as manager of polyethylene process and engineering technology for the company’s worldwide operations.

 

An enthusiastic alumnus and strong supporter of Purdue and the School of Chemical Engineering, Mr. Hemmer was named an Outstanding Chemical Engineer in 2001.

 

Jeff has actively participated on the Purdue ChE advisory council since 1997, serving as a member of the Executive Committee since 1999.  He has been a guest speaker in the school, co-chaired the accreditation survey and undergraduate recruiting committees and helped solicit support from fellow Purdue ChE alumni on other advisory council programs.  In addition Jeff has served as a capital campaign committee member on the ChE building renovation and the Class of 1980 25th anniversary gift.
