The Center for Connected and Automated Transportation (CCAT), centered at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, organized its 3rd annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) conference held on September 27, 2024 at Purdue University's Discovery Park District in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Mirian Velay-Lizancos, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering, has been named the Bowen Scholar of Excellence and also the Associate Director of the Pankow Materials Laboratory in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering.

Dr. Akanshu Sharma has been named the Jack and Kay Hockema Associate Professor in Civil Engineering. This professorship has a 5-year term that will extend through Fall 2029.

Satish V. Ukkusuri, Reilly Professor of Civil Engineering and director of the Urban Mobility Networks and Intelligence (UMNI) Lab at Purdue, has been selected to be part of the summer 2024 class of INFORMS Senior Members.

Civil Engineering and Herrick Labs PhD student Sichen Lu is a recipient of the prestigious ASHRAE Grant-in-Aid Award for 2024-2025. This $10,000 award is given to outstanding graduate students performing research in the High Performance Buildings or HVAC&R fields.
