Woei-Chyi Chang receives Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award

Woei-Chyi Chang, Ph.D. in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, has been awarded the Spring 2025 Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements. His dissertation, “Determinants of Successful Worker-Autonomy Teaming in Future Construction Workplaces,” offers an innovative investigation into the teaming dynamics between human workers and autonomous systems, proposing data-driven solutions to enable successful teaming on future construction jobsites. This recognition reflects his significant scholarly contributions throughout his Ph.D. journey, particularly in advancing human-centered approaches to automation, safety, and workforce inclusivity in future construction workplaces.

Woei-Chyi is a member of the Intelligent-Inclusive-Safe Built Environment Lab (I2SAFE) at Purdue University, a research group dedicated to advancing smart and inclusive safety solutions in the construction industry. The lab is led by Dr. Sogand Hasanzadeh, who also serves as Woei-Chyi’s doctoral advisor.
