The Autonomous Motorsports Purdue (AMP) team placed third in the Autonomous Karting Series (AKS) regional competition held on June 7th at Purdue's Grand Prix track facility. The event was hosted by the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering (LSCCE). The AMP team is advised by Professor Samuel Labi, and is made up of over 40 students from various schools and departments at Purdue including LSCCE.

AMP team members carry out the fabrication, sensor stack assembly, and testing of the vehicle at engineered tracks. In so doing, they learn valuable lessons related to the building of autonomous transport vehicle systems and how to troubleshoot practical issues related to autonomous vehicle localization, path planning and navigation, controls, and vehicle dynamics. These are critical safety- and mobility-related considerations in the emerging era of connected and autonomous transportation.
