AAE Prof. Steven Schneider, an internationally recognized and highly respected authority on the subject of laminar-turbulent transition in hypersonic boundary-layer flows, was elected a member of the 2018 class of The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Fellows.

Schneider’s expertise has guided and contributed to numerous government programs and international technological collaborations in hypersonics.

Only 22 individuals were elected as fellows this year. Of those, only seven were from academia.

Schneider says, “I am thankful for this honor which recognizes a career that has only been possible due to the help of many people: senior colleagues such as Eli Reshotko, Jim Kendall and many others; sponsors; graduate students; staff; and colleagues across the nation and the world. They are too many to name but I thank them all.”

AIAA is the world’s largest aerospace technical society, with nearly 30,000 individual members from 85 countries.
