The 19th annual Purdue Space Day (PSD) will take place the weekend of Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th with guest VIP School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Alum and Astronaut Charlie Walker (BSAAE'71, OAE'99).

School of AAE Graduate Student Michael Bedard Presents Research Paper at 2014 International Astronautical Congress

Michael Bedard, graduate student of School of AAE Professor William Anderson, recently presented a paper to the 65th International Astronautical Congress in Toronto, Canada. The paper, Student Design/Build/Test of a Throttleable LOX/LCH4 Thrust Chamber, was written by Bedard, along with fellow AAE graduate student Eric Meier, and AAE faculty member, Dr. William Anderson. The project detailed in the paper is based on liquid oxygen/liquid methane rocket engine development for the NASA Morpheus test vehicle.

Congratulations to Anthony Cofer (Ph.D. student of Dr. Alina Alexeenko and Dr. Stephen Heister), Nicholas Smith (Ph.D. student of Dr. Byron Pipes), and Brandon Terry (Ph.D. student of Dr. Steven Son) who have been named as recipients of the 2014 Purdue Forever Fellowship.

School of AAE Ph.D. Student Amanda Haapala Receives Women in Hi-Tech Leading Light Award

School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Ph.D. student Amanda Haapala received the 2014 Leading Light Award on October 1, 2014 in a special awards ceremony in Indianapolis. Sponsored by Women & Hi-Tech, the Leading Light Award honors women of achievement in science, education, and technology. Amanda received recognition for her demonstrated exceptional and substantive accomplishments as a recipient of the Rising Star Award for achievements in technology, science or engineering related careers.

School of AAE's Dr. Michael Sangid Receives the DARPA Young Faculty Award

Dr. Michael Sangid, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Assistant Professor, has been selected as a recipient of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Young Faculty Award. The objective of the DARPA Young Faculty Award (YFA) program is to identify and engage rising research stars in junior faculty positions at U.S. academic institutions and expose them to Department of Defense needs as well as DARPA’s program development process.
