Dr. Markus Heinimann is the Vice President for Technology and Quality for Howmet Aerospace and is leading the development and execution of the product and technology strategy and quality for Howmet’s Engineered Structures business unit. He is responsible for advancing new and existing material, process, product and manufacturing technologies for metallic materials, machining and structural assemblies to meet the needs of the aerospace, defense and other high-tech markets. Dr. Heinimann is also responsible for implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System, the associated industry and customer accreditations and developing and implementing quality improvement processes across all business locations. Dr. Heinimann has 30 years of aerospace experience in engineering and technology development, and through his various roles has contributed to metallic materials and product development efforts supporting virtually every western airframe and space launch vehicle program. Previously he served as the VP for Technology for Arconic’s Engineered Structures Business Unit, and as Technology Manager for Aerospace at the Alcoa Technical Center. He started his career in various engineering and engineering leadership roles at Cessna Aircraft.

Dr. Heinimann holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University. He is a Vice-chair of the ASTM International Committee on Fatigue and Fracture mechanics, and a member of several technical committees, and he is also a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).  Among his many industry awards are the Award of Merit and title of Fellow from ASTM International, and the Outstanding Aerospace Engineer Award from Purdue University.  Dr. Heinimann is serving or has served in many advisory roles including Purdue and Penn State University Industrial Advisory Councils, and FAA/NASA/DoD technical advisory committees.
