Admissions Procedures

DEADLINES: For full consideration for financial aid, all application materials need to be received by December 15 in the previous year of desired enrollment term (for Fall) and September 15 in the previous year of desired enrollment term (for Spring). Final deadline for applications is May 1 in the same year of desired enrollment term (for Fall) and September 15 in the same year of desired enrollment term (for Spring). Please email all application/admission questions to AAE graduate program coordinator, Xiaomin Qian, xiaomin@purdue.edu

Please note that a GPA of 3.25 or equivalent is required for an MS admission and 3.5 for PhD admission.

The necessary items to be submitted when applying are:

  1. Online Application
  2. Statement of Purpose
  3. Official Transcripts (international students need original language and English translations).
    • Upload official transcripts (no student copies) to the application system. After being admitted, you will need to provide official transcripts in sealed envelopes to the Graduate School.
    • International applicants must upload a copy of any diplomas or provisional certificates if diplomas have not been award (original language and English translations).
  4. Three letters of recommendation (online)
  5. Official GRE (general test)
    • Minimum GRE scores for all students:
      • Verbal: 156
      • Quantitative: 159
      • Analytical: 4.0
    • Send scores to Purdue, institution code 1631 and department code 1601
    • Upload score report to your application as miscellaneous supporting document (optional)
    • Note that the GRE is not required for Purdue AAE graduates, current Purdue AAE undergraduates, and students with 3 years of relevant professional experience. Please email Xiaomin Qian, xiaomin@purdue.edu, after submitting your application online. She will assist you in getting the scores waived.
  6. TOEFL scores (international only)
    • Cannot be more than two years old and must have a minimum score of:
      • Writing: 18
      • Speaking: 18
      • Listening: 14
      • Reading: 19
      • TOTAL: 80
    • Send scores to Purdue, institution code 1631 and department code 1601
    • Upload score report to your application as miscellaneous supporting document (optional)
    • If you received a degree within the past 24 months from a school where English is the primary instruction language in one of the recognized English speaking countries, your TOEFL can be waived. Please check ETS website for recognized English speaking countries.
