Three undergrad IE students competed in the 2017 “Beautify Grissom” painting competition. Launched by the Purdue chapter of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) in 2013, students compete yearly by painting what IE means to them.
Dr. Jeffrey Rosenthal, Professor of Statistics, University of Toronto, Canada, spoke at the 2017 Alan B. Pritsker Distinguished Lecture Series on Apr. 27. His topic was “The Magic of Monte Carlo”.
IE's Srinivasan Chandrasekar, Professor and Director of the Purdue Center for Materials Processing and Tribology, and his international research team have solved the 400-year-old mystery of Prince Rupert's Drops. The team used integrated photoelasticity to measure the complex stress distribution that give these glass drops their shatter-resistant behavior.
IE 431 Senior Design Capstone Project students not only learned about real-world business projects, but served companies by providing practical recommendations for improvements. Thirty-one student teams presented their finished research project posters at an exhibition on April 25, and four winning teams were announced.
The Purdue Industrial Engineering Graduate Student Organization (IE GSO) held its annual Research Symposium on April 25 in Grissom Hall. The symposium included a graduate student poster competition and a panel discussion with four Outstanding IE (OIE) alumni.
