Undergraduate Research
Information about faculty and their research areas can be found here. Be sure to watch the videos in the playlist below to learn about the benefits of undergraduate research!
Additional information about research in the College of Engineering and University can be found by contacting the Engineering Undergraduate Research Office (EURO) and Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR).
To participate in research as an undergraduate student, you need to get connected to a faculty member whose research interests you.
Students have three options to participate in research (be sure to ask the faculty member what options are available):
1. credit (enroll in the course with the appropriate credit hours agreed upon by the student and faculty); tuition fee applies
2. pay
3. voluntary basis
If an IE major student decides to add IE (IE faculty member) research for credit (IE 49000), please notify your IE primary academic advisor so they can provide you with the next steps and forms.
If a non-IE major student decides to add IE (IE faculty member) research for credit (IE 49000), please notify IE academic advisor, Jessica Valley at valleyj@purdue.edu so she can provide you with the next steps and forms.
The next steps will include:
· Students are provided with the IE- UG- Research- Proposal- Form that will need to be completed with the IE faculty.
· Faculty and student come to an agreement about project or research responsibilities and complete the IE- UG- Research- Proposal- Form.
· The IE- UG- Research- Proposal- Form is then requested to get sent back to the IE academic advisor for additional review and processing.
- Please note that forms are not accepted after week 5 of the semester.
· Student Request to add the VT course via Scheduling Assistant/Unitime.
- Please note, the IE academic advisor will not approve VT course request until they receive a signed copy of the IE- UG- Research- Proposal- Form.
