Spring 2024 Research Registration

PhD and MS thesis students are required to enroll in thesis research each semester. If you need to register for research credits, please sign up for credits before the start of the Spring 2024 semester.
 
Registering for research credits involves a three-step process. More information about these steps may be found here.

When you are preparing for an interview, don’t forget to practice “self-talk”.  It is a great way to build your confidence and make sure you don’t downplay your accomplishments.

Sustainable Future's Great Lakes Science Initiative

Center for Career Opportunities Workshop

The CCO is offering an in-person and online workshop series for international master's students, but open to all international graduate students. Participants will learn job search strategies from different levels. 
 
This is a 3-part interactive workshop series, with each workshop lasting 60 minutes.
  • Session 1 is a resume review support group. First, resume building skills will be demonstrated. Then, students will be divided into groups to conduct a guided resume peer review.
  • Session 2 is the most beneficial to students with zero knowledge about job search. We will discuss: how to find a possible career path as an international student, including resources about CPT, OPT, H1B, etc. 
  • Session 3 is most beneficial to students with some basic job search knowledge, who have started job hunting, and want to improve their skills. Advanced job search and networking skills will be discussed and practiced.
There is no fee for participation. These workshops are highly interactive and we hope all participants engage in all activities during sessions. Seats are limited!

2024 Environmental Fellows Program Application

The 2024 Environmental Fellows Program is now open! The Environmental Fellows Program at the Yale School of the Environment (YSE) is a nationally competitive summer fellowship program for masters and doctoral students that seeks to place students traditionally underrepresented in the environmental field and those committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in summer fellowships with environmental foundations and their grantees.  
 
Deadline to apply is January 15, 2024.
 
The Environmental Fellows Program involves:
 
  • A 12-week fellowship at an environmental grantmaking foundation, research institution, nonprofit organization, or grassroots organization. Past placement sites include: Race Forward, Clean Water Action, Environmental Defense Fund, the Northlight Foundation, the Cary Institute, and many more! 
  • A base stipend of $13,000 plus a travel allowance for participating fellows.  
  • Work on a variety of environmental issues including but not limited to: environmental health, energy justice, marine conservation, transit solutions, food justice, and more!  
  • Professional development training in diversity, equity, and inclusion; GIS; processing climate grief; and financial management. 
  • Access to a growing alumni network of 206 environmental professionals

2023-24 Edition of InnovatED

The Graduate School is seeking article submissions for the 2023-24 edition of its graduate research magazine, InnovatED! InnovatED is Purdue University’s premier graduate research magazine. The mission of this magazine is to showcase and publish the influential and inspirational graduate research conducted at our university. Each publication features ten students, selected by Graduate School leadership. 
Submissions should be in the form of a popular press piece and should consist of 700 to 800 words. To get an idea of how submissions should be formatted, students can check out past editions at our website (link below)! 
 
  • The student author or co-authors selected will receive an award of $250 per accepted manuscript, with the cover story receiving $500.
  • Students selected for publication will receive one-on-one coaching focused on communicating complex information to a lay audience. 
  • Research published in InnovatED is shared widely, reaching readers in more than 45 countries. 
The submission deadline for the 2023-24 Edition is November 10.
