Profile of EAC Chair Kristen Belcredi

Over the course of almost 30 years working as an industry consultant on engineering, compliance and environmental management systems, Kristen Belcredi has visited 400-500 different operations worldwide.

“I have travelled as far as Abu Dhabi and I have advised local, family-owned businesses,” says Belcredi. “I have seen everything from SPAM to space satellites being made.”

Currently Senior Vice President of Air & Engineering Services at Keramida Environmental, Belcredi holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue with a secondary curriculum in Environmental Engineering.

“I chose to work for a consulting firm because I wanted to see a wide variety of manufacturing, pollution control, and geographic areas. My career has turned out to be exactly that.”

Belcredi provides engineering and permitting services pertaining to wastewater, stormwater, waste management, and air emissions for industrial, energy, and municipal facilities. She directs or serves as lead auditor for compliance audits, assists clients in developing environmental management systems, and provides technical guidance in permitting projects, beneficial reuse opportunities, pollution prevention plans, and air compliance O&M Plans. She also trains clients in EHS compliance requirements and in ISO auditing.

“I enjoy taking what I have seen in one type of setting and applying it to a completely different one,” she explains. “For example, in recent years there has been a long overdue focus nationwide on stormwater runoff from manufacturing sites. Some of my clients have operations that are near environmentally sensitive areas, such as wetlands or reservoirs, so they have always paid close attention to the quality of their stormwater runoff. With this increased nationwide focus, I can apply what I have seen at limited places to operations across the country.”

In addition to being a licensed professional engineer in over a dozen states, Belcredi is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, a Certified ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, and a Certified RAB/QSA Auditor. She is active in numerous professional associations and is currently a member of the American Foundry Society’s Waste, Water, and Air Committees.

Why does Belcredi dedicate her time and expertise to Purdue EEE?

“As Chair of the External Advisory Council, I want to help every member to contribute as much as they can when reflecting on their own personal experience as environmental professionals,” she explains.

In her limited free time, Kristen Belcredi enjoys scuba diving, and she is looking forward to her first post-pandemic trip to the Caribbean this June.
