ChE alumnus Timothy Bohrer (MSChE '73) to be inducted in PMMI Packaging & Processing Hall of Fame

Purdue Chemical Engineering alumnus Timothy Bohrer (MSChE '73) will be inducted in the PMMI Packaging & Processing Hall of Fame at the PACK EXPO International in October 2018 at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois. During his 45 years in packaging, Bohrer has been named inventor or co-inventor of 17 patents for microwave packaging technology, composite containers, barrier film, thermoforming, and other technologies.

Dr. Rajamani Gounder named in "2018 Class of Influential Researchers"

Dr. Rajamani Gounder, Associate Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been named in the "2018 Class of Influential Researchers" by Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, a publication of the American Chemical Society. The global team of editors and editorial advisory board members identified this class of influential, early-career (less than 10 years or so in their independent research career) researchers, on the basis of the quality and impact of their research.

Dr. Vilas Pol leads Purdue researchers studying new battery tech

Davidson School of Chemical Engineering's Dr. Vilas Pol is leading research in battery technology using sodium, which is a cheap and earth-abundant alternative to lithium-ion batteries. The researchers have been investigating sodium-ion batteries because they could store energy for large solar and wind power facilities at lower cost.

ChE Professor John Morgan named Editor in Chief of Biotechnology Progress

Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Professor John A. Morgan has been appointed as Editor in Chief for Biotechnology Progress, the official publication of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and its technological community, the Society for Biological Engineering. Dr. Morgan will officially begin his appointment on January 1, 2019.

Dr. Vilas Pol part of Fall President's Colloquia

Purdue President Mitch Daniels will continue the President's Colloquia for faculty members this fall, with three events planned including a presentation by Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Professor Vilas Pol. Dr. Pol will present The Quest for Safer Rechargeable Batteries on November 29. The Colloquia provide opportunities to hear faculty experts discuss their research in presentations designed specifically for non-experts.
