ChE Professor Vilas Pol elected Purdue Sustainability Committee Chair

Dr. Vilas Pol, Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been elected as Chair of the Sustainability Committee, one of the six Purdue University Resources Policy Committees that guide the optimal planning and use of the physical resources of the University.

Dr. Vilas Pol, Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been elected as Chair of the Sustainability Committee, one of the six Purdue University Resources Policy Committees that guide the optimal planning and use of the physical resources of the University.

The Sustainability Committee is charged with setting five-year goals to advance the sustainability of the University, guided by Purdue’s Sustainability Strategic Plan. The committee aims to reduce the overall energy consumption of the University, while transitioning to greater utilization of clean and renewable sources of energy, determine measurable objectives for achieving these goals, and evaluate progress in meeting the objectives.

Dr. Pol would like to focus on Environmental and Economic Sustainability at Purdue University through innovation, technology development, and education.

Dr. Pol joined Purdue Chemical Engineering in 2014. He received his PhD from the University of Bar-Ilan, Israel in 2005. Dr. Pol leads the Vilas Pol Energy Research Group (ViPER).
