ChE's Dr. Arvind Varma selected as UC Regents' Lecturer at UCLA

Dr. Arvind Varma, the R. Games Slayter Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, has been selected as a UC Regents' Lecturer at UCLA in the Chemical and Bioengineering department. Varma will present lectures based on his current research and education interests for two weeks during the 2018-2019 academic year.

Varma will present lectures based on his current research and education interests for two weeks during the 2018-2019 academic year.

The Regents of the University of California have established the Regents' Professors and Lecturers Program to appoint, on a visiting basis, distinguished leaders in their fields to enrich UC's instructional programs.

Professor Arvind Varma joined Purdue in January 2004, and served as Head of the School of Chemical Engineering from then until July 2016. He has received various recognitions for his teaching, research, and engagement. His research group investigates topics in chemical and catalytic reaction engineering, new sources for energy and chemicals, and synthesis of advanced materials. Projects typically involve combined experimental and modeling studies. Varma also serves as the director of the Purdue Mexico Center for Sustainability.
