Discovering my path in Pharma
As a recent graduate in chemistry, I knew I wanted to further explore the field and found the perfect fit in the PMP-ChemE program at Purdue University. Honestly, it was the best decision for me as it helped me delve deeper into chemical engineering while having a concentration in pharma, a combination that prepares me very well to attain my career goals.. Purdue has been a transformational experience, helping me grow professionally and personally.
The professional master’s program has not only helped me broaden my understanding of chemical engineering but also provided opportunities to gain management and statistical skills. Researchers or engineers, we often have to pitch ideas and prototypes to be implemented which requires not only domain knowledge but strong business acumen. To feed into my interest, I am currently taking a data science course to broaden my knowledge in machine learning. For me, this is what sets this program apart from every other degree out there. The staff, faculty and peers motivate you to explore your interests in a variety of fields and pivot your career path as per your interests and passion. My plan for now is to explore the area of research in pharmaceuticals and pursue a PhD.. A fall semester class taught by Dr. William Clark on introduction to the pharmaceutical industry was a big motivator for pursuing my academic journey. That class made me apply logic to every concept and truly understand the nuances of this industry. If anyone is aspiring to go into the pharma industry, I would highly recommend taking this class and interact with Dr. Clark to explore your passion further.
When I'm not in class, you can find me in the library or studying. As a Boilermaker, I have appreciated the top-notch facilities, including the Hick's Undergrad Library, where I complete my school and research work. Outside of academics, I enjoy engaging with the local community and visiting the farmers market for fresh produce. I have also joined the bicycle club, which allows me to relax, exercise, and connect with like-minded individuals. In conclusion, if you are considering a master’s program, I highly recommend taking your next giant leap and applying for the PMP-ChemE program at Purdue. It has been a window of opportunities for me and I am confident it will be the same for you.
