The Purdue University Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering is consistently ranked among the top in the nation. We are currently ranked the number two Graduate Program by US News and World Report; for the past twelve years, we have ranked either #1 or #2. ABE innovative research focuses on the application of engineering principles to biological systems, resulting in the creation of new products and practices that improve the quality of human life. Across the world, we need new energy sources, healthcare solutions, environmentally friendly technologies, and an end to terrorism. ABE research is advancing solutions to Grand Challenges such as food, energy, water, environment, and health.
