The Lifetime Service to the Profession Award was first presented in 2016. This recognition is reserved for those who, by word and example, have represented the agricultural engineering profession, and the Department, with excellence over the course of their career. These extraordinary individuals serve as role models for our students.

2016 Lifetime Service to the Profession Award - Robert C. Vollmer (BS AE '52)

Mr. Vollmer continues to faithfully serve the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at the age of 98. Over the course of his career he has worked with multiple generations of surveying equipment and can probably still operate each one. Having him on campus and being able to relieve some of the situations in which he found himself was a boost to our students. Due to his career in surveying, he was presented with a GPS survey monument (picture below, right) The evening concluded with evaluation of capstone projects at the technical report phase.
