William A. Crossley, who joined AAE faculty in 1995, has been named as the head of the school. He will assume the position of J. William Uhrig and Anastasia Vournas Head of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics on July 20.

Sydney Dolan, Ethan Plaehn and Stephen Scheuerle were recognized as outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees.

Jim Luckring (BSAAE ’73, MSAAE ’74) was awarded for “vision and leadership to advance theoretical, experimental, and computation aerodynamics for separated flows, numerical uncertainty quantification, and CFD validation,” according to NASA.

William Gerstenmaier called it a "tremendous honor" to be presented with an honorary doctorate by President Mitch Daniels at Spring Commencement for his accomplishments as one of NASA’s most influential leaders and administrators.

AAE graduate student Jay Evans was selected for the Science Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program.

“I don’t think I would have been on that ship if Purdue hadn’t been in my background,” says Beth Moses (BSAAE ’92, MSAAE ’94) on her VSS Unity flight in February that reached space, “so it just seemed like I needed to honor that legacy.”

Program helps faculty members explore academic leadership opportunities and develop leadership skills through small-group discussions with Purdue’s senior academic leaders.

Wenbin Yu, a professor in AAE, was chosen for the University Faculty Scholars Program that recognizes outstanding faculty members at the West Lafayette campus who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

Kathleen Howell, the Hsu Lo Distinguished Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was honored May 7 with the highest honor that Purdue confers onto a member of its faculty.

FlykeART, which includes AAE students, is in the International Business Model Competition finals, held Thursday and Friday at Brigham Young University.
