Internal Deadline (Pre-Proposals): May 15, 2026 (5:00 PM ET)

Eligible PhD students should submit pre-proposals as a single PDF to EngrResearch@purdue.edu. Required materials include:

• Cover page (using the provided template)
• Short cover letter
• Curriculum vitae
• One-page summary of dissertation research
• One-page description of the planned use of the Chorafas award

Finalists will be selected and invited to submit full nomination packages by May 22, 2026 (5:00 PM ET).

Finalists will be required to provide additional materials, including two letters of recommendation (one being from their PhD supervisor), before one institutional nominee is selected.

• One nominee per institution
• Foundation deadline: May 31, 2026
• Prize: $10,000
• Eligibility:
  • Graduated after May 31, 2025, or expected by December 31, 2026
  • Must be under 32 years of age (born after May 31, 1994)
  • May only be nominated once
