William E. Smith is the president and CEO of Visador Holding Corporation, an operational holding company that sells products primarily to the residential construction and remodeling industries. Visador's individual operating units include Coffman Stairs LLC, a leading U.S. manufacturer of stair components; and Crown Column & Millwork LLC, a major manufacturer of synthetic and wood columns. In his role, Bill has refocused Visador in both strategy and performance. Prior to working for Visador, Bill was president and CEO of Ankmar LLC, Colorado's largest garage door installation company. He also served as president and director of McPhillips Manufacturing Inc., where he led the strategic repositioning of the company and a return to profitability. Bill was the first non-family member to work for McPhillips, and he positioned its third-generation family members to take the company forward with new governance and oversight processes in place. Earlier in his career, Bill served as president of a division of Building Materials Holding Corporation, president and COO of Lone Star Plywood & Door Corporation, executive vice president of Westcott Communications Inc., and vice president of components and accessories at Ryder Airline Services Inc., among other positions. He began his career as an associate, manager, and then principal at A. T. Kearney Inc. Bill earned his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1973 and his master's in industrial engineering in 1974. Both degrees are from Purdue.
