Sponsored by the Texas A&M Health Ergo Center and the Applied Ergonomics Conference, the Applied Ergonomics Conference/Texas A&M Ergo Center Young Investigator Award honors a faculty member demonstrating outstanding contributions through applied research.

As highlighted by his nominator: “Dr. Yu’s work focuses on two significant challenges in applied ergonomics. First is on solutions to address the difficulty of measuring worker force exertions in the field which currently require invasive muscle sensors or instrumented load cells at the hand-object coupling. Second is on interventions to reduce worker exposure to physical ergonomics risks. “

In late March Associate Professor Denny Yu took part in the Applied Ergonomics Conference, where he was presented with the award.

The award is the latest of many for Yu, as he was named a Rising Star of Safety by the National Safety Council, as well as the IEA/Tsinghua Award for Collaborative Human Factors and Ergonomics Education. 

In addition to these awards, Yu also received a Fulbright Award to conduct research and co-instruct courses on human factors engineering and medical technologies at the Management Center Innsbruck in 2024.

AES, the Applied Ergonomics Society, is a worldwide resource for the ergonomics profession dedicated solely to the support of the profession and individuals involved with improving workplace performance, quality, sustainability and employee availability. AES is a society within IISE, an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineers, human factors/ergonomics professionals, healthcare providers and related professions.
