IE's Yuehwern Yih named 2024 IISE David F Baker Distinguished Research Award Winner

The award honors outstanding research and is given for a career of accomplishments that broadly benefit practitioners, organizations, or other researchers.

 

Yih was formally recognized and presented the award at the 2024 IISE Annual Conference and Expo, which was held in Montreal, Canada from May 18th to 21st.

Yih is the first woman to earn this award, and the first faculty member from the Purdue School of Industrial Engineering since Alan Pritsker (1966), James Solberg (1982) and Bruce Schmeiser (2004).

This is the most recent of many honors for Yih, who was recently honored with the Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Award by the Purdue Office of Global Partnerships. Yih is also the director of USAID LASER PULSE (Long-term Assistance and SErvices for Research, Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine). Yih's efforts have resulted in delivering critical humanitarian aid to thousands of people in Ukraine and South Sudan through the development of her E+TRA (Electronic TRAnsparent TRAcking) System. 

Yih will also be delivering a keynote address at the INFORMS International conference in Colombia.
