The State of Louisiana recently released its 2017 draft master plan for public comment, and includes contributions by IE Assistant Professor David Johnson.

The Louisiana Legislature mandates an updated plan every five years. The planners use the Coastal Louisiana Risk Assessment (CLARA) model to systematically evaluate flood risk from the many types of storm events that may occur now or in the future. The CLARA model was developed by Johnson and colleagues at RAND Corporation, and accounts for uncertainty in climate, environmental, and economic conditions.
