Purdue University honored some of its highest academic-achieving graduating seniors May 12-14 during commencement ceremonies, including IE graduate Eren Bozbag. He and two other students received the Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Award.

"I am truly honored to have been recognized at commencement for receiving the Charles O. McGaughey award," said Bozbag. "This award has historically recognized outstanding student leaders and to have been selected amongst so many of my peers who are also great leaders means a lot to me. I am thankful for the leadership opportunities that I received through the school of IE as it all started with me becoming a part of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE)."

He is from Istanbul, Turkey, has accepted a Business Technology Analyst position at Deloitte in San Francisco, and was also involved with the Old Masters Program, the Purdue Foundation Student Board, and the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society during his time at Purdue.

McGaughey, a 1939 Purdue graduate, established the awards to honor students for leadership potential. To be eligible for these awards, students must have completed a minimum of two years of full-time study at Purdue and achieved at least a 3.0 graduation index. Recipients are selected on the basis of their contributions to the university and the community. Each honoree receives a crystal paperweight commemorating the award and a cash award as an acknowledgment of their superior leadership abilities, scholarship and appreciation of basic American values.
