Purdue IIE video wins first place

IIEs can be video producers and actors, too! The Purdue Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)* Ambassadors entered and won first place in the annual Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers Industry Advisory Board (IISE IAB) YouTube Video Contest. This is a national contest in which any IISE student chapter may submit a video highlighting the major “to excite high school students to select Industrial & Systems Engineering as a profession”.

Every spring semester, the Purdue IIE Ambassadors – with the support of the entire chapter – create and submit a video in this contest. IIE Ambassadors Maria Sofia Smith, Rachel Pauley, Zach Coggins, Dave Reed, Arpitha Gadag, and Beck Seligman, and IIE members Pamela Yuan and Baron Yan, worked together on the video. Yan and Smith produced and edited the video in a three-week period.

“When we started planning the video, we decided we wanted to choose a theme which would be funny and highlight the approachable and sociable qualities of people in IE,” says Ambassador Director Smith. “‘The Office’ is a comedic show, and we chose this filming style because it would allow us to show scenes and commentary simultaneously. We are thrilled to have received this honor!”

IIE will receive a grant of $1,000 for winning this contest, which will be used for planning events like career fairs, sponsoring faculty luncheons within the school, barbecues with students, and the IIE Grand Prix team.
