Decatur County

Erica Gunn, the marketing director at Visit Greensburg in Decatur County, worked with capstone students to prepare for an influx of visitors during a solar eclipse. The students assessed the county's transportation and traffic flow, identified prime viewing locations, and suggested ways to manage crowds and traffic safely.
Their recommendations, such as notifying hotels in advance, setting a minimum stay, and organizing post-eclipse events to ease traffic, proved valuable.
Local leaders, including the mayor and police, were engaged in the planning, and the community's preparedness was praised. Thanks to the students’ input, the event was well-organized with proper signage, volunteer support, and dispersed viewing sites. The collaboration also helped improve emergency preparedness, making it a beneficial experience for the entire community.

Jeco Plastic Products

"In the current economic environment, logistics issues and particularly freight costs are significant issues... they cut the freight costs for an LTL (or formerly LTL) shipment almost in half, which is a big deal for the customer, that was a very big benefit."

Lafayette Catholic School System

“...they took a look at all of our buildings, in terms of square footage, how we’re using that space, how often the rooms are used, what size capacity they have, so they had to look at Indiana state law to determine how many students could be in each classroom building based on square footage. We also looked at the bell schedule so they could determine how often that classroom is used, to help us determine if we’re utilizing our space appropriately.
What has impressed me about the students is their maturity… they’ve been engaging and curious, really getting in and asking appropriate questions, meeting with a principal, teachers, to get feedback from them about how space is used and why certain spaces are designed a certain way. They’ve been a great partner so far with the Lafayette Catholic School System.”

Mike Seeley, President, Lafayette Catholic Schools
