Vilas Pol selected as a Fulbright Specialist in the energy storage area
Professor Vilas Pol has been selected for placement on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of three years. This prestigious program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, provides U.S. academics and established professionals with the unique opportunity to participate in two- to six-week, project-based exchanges at host institutions worldwide.
Professor Vilas Pol is a distinguished academic and researcher renowned for his contributions to the fields of materials science and engineering. The Vilas Pol Energy Research (ViPER) group specializes in the development of advanced electrode and electrolyte materials for energy storage, with significant work in lithium-ion, sodium- and potassium-ion batteries, their thermal safety and low temperature performance. With 275 publications, 20 issued US patents, 40 national and international society awards including two Guinness World RecordsTM to his name, Pol's research has been widely recognized for its innovation and impact.

Established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the Fulbright Specialist Program is part of the larger Fulbright Program. It pairs highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals with host institutions abroad, enabling them to share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, and gain international experience. Specialists selected for the program engage in a wide range of activities, from delivering seminars and workshops to consulting on faculty or workforce development. These short-term exchanges help build capacity at host institutions and foster cross-cultural understanding.
