Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Professor Vilas Pol has been selected to receive the 2019 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Program Committee’s Professional Achievement Award for Innovations in Green Process Engineering for Sustainable Energy and Environment.

The AIChE Green Process Engineering Award, sponsored by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is highly competitive and was presented to Dr. Pol based on his distinguished contributions as an educator and for his outstanding professional achievement in advancing innovations in green process engineering.

The award was announced by Dr. Jian Liu, Vice Chair of the AIChE Green Process Engineering Award Committee.

“I am humbled to receive this recognition from AIChE," said Dr. Pol. "It gives me and my research team further strength to develop advanced technologies for the sustainable future."

Nominees for the Green Process Engineering Award must show a track record of having received academic and professional honors, of holding technical and professional society memberships and offices, and of contributing significantly as a professional engineer/chemist, industrial leader, or educator.

Dr. Pol will receive the 2019 AIChE Professional Achievement Award at the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting, November 10-15, in Orlando, Florida, where he will present an invited address. The award includes $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.
