Dr. Ramkrishna selected as Balwant S. Joshi Distinguished Visiting Professor
Dr. Doraiswami Ramkrishna, the Harry Creighton Peffer Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, has been selected as the 2017-2018 Balwant S. Joshi Distinguished Visiting Professor by Mumbai University, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT).
Presented annually, the endowed fellowship is awarded to a distinguished professor in the area of chemical engineering, chemical technology, or applied chemistry. Dr. Ramkrishna will travel to the Institute in the summer of 2018, and will spend 4 weeks on campus.
The Balwant S. Joshi Distinguished Visiting Professor endowment was created at ICT to support the invitation of visiting professors to interact with the Institute’s undergraduate students, post-graduate students, and faculty members. The visiting professorship includes discussions, seminars, and lectures, and culminates in a public lecture.
The Institute of Chemical Technology has a notable history of almost 80 years, having produced many industrialists, academics, bureaucrats, Padma awardees, secretaries to Indian government departments, directors of CSIR labs, and over 500 first-generation entrepreneurs. The Institute’s Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the leading chemical engineering programs in India. The Institute has recognized Dr. Ramkrishna as a Distinguished Alumnus in the past with the UDCT Diamond Award in 1994, and the Platinum Award in 2009.
