Assistant Professor Julie Liu has received a Scientist Development Grant from the American Heart Association for her "Engineering Tunable Microenvironments for Endothelial Cell Differentiation from Adult Stem Cells" research project. The grant provides $77,000 per year for four years, beginning January 1, 2012.

The objective of the Scientist Development Grant is to support highly promising beginning scientists in their progress toward independence by encouraging and adequately funding research projects that can bridge the gap between completion of research training and readiness for successful competition as an independent investigator.
