Professor Rex Reklaitis Elected to National Academy of Engineering
The School of Chemical Engineering is delighted to announce that Dr. Rex Reklaitis, Edward W. Comings Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering. He is being honored "for developing the theory and application of batch design, scheduling, and optimization tools, and for outstanding contributions to education."
Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature," and to the "pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education."
Purdue's School of Chemical Engineering now has four NAE members. Previously elected were Dr. Rakesh Agrawal, Dr. Sangtae Kim and Dr. R. Byron Pipes.
